Finca Can Tanca in Cala D'or

A beautiful and historic farmhouse converted into an elegant holiday home. C'an Tanca is in a peaceful and private part of the countryside inland from Cala D'Or but it's still incredibly close to shops and restaurants and just a short drive from the beach.

The house has kept its original character. Outside it has thick stuccoed walls and shuttered windows. And inside it's full of cool and interesting spaces with tiled floors, white walls, and antique dark-wood Mallorcan furniture. The house is the perfect holiday base for two families or groups of friends - it has two entrances and lots of space and different rooms including two lounges and three bathrooms.

On the ground floor there's a lovely kitchen and dining room with lots of workspace and storage space, and with traditional blue and white tiles. This room opens out onto the garden-terrace. There's a lounge with a wood-burning stove and comfortable sofas. The two double bedrooms are here on the ground floor too. Both have gorgeous antique Mallorcan furniture and one has an original tiled floor. Both rooms also lead through grand double doors into en-suite bathrooms, with baths and showers. All the bedrooms at the house are air-conditioned.

On the first floor there's a second lounge with two large corner sofas and comfortable chairs. This is a long and bright room with views over the pool and garden, the surrounding countryside and down to the sea.

The two twin bedrooms are on this floor too. Again they are light and airy rooms with bright white linen. They share a bathroom with a bath and a shower. A staircase leads up from the first floor to a sun-terrace with terrific views over the pool and countryside and down to the sea at Cala D'Or.

The garden begins with a lovely courtyard terrace shaded by tall palm trees. The pool is surrounded by sun-terraces and there is a lawned area again shaded by trees. There's a covered dining terrace by the pool with a professional barbecue-oven, sink and dining table. The property also has a gated driveway. And all around the garden and pool there are open views across fields and down to the sea.

Finca C'an Tanca is a wonderful house full of cool spaces and places to relax. It's private and peaceful and still very close to local shops and restaurants in the pretty village of Calonge, a 10-minute walk away. The local beach is also just a short drive away - or a fairly energetic walk!
